Intimate Care
Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty can be done in our procedure room in the office or in the operating room under general anesthesia. This is dependent on patient comfort level during the procedure, and if we are doing other procedures at the same time (i.e. the Mommy Makeover Plus+ where Dr. Diaz also performs vaginal rejuvenation after tummy tuck and breast surgery). Every member of the surgical team plays a vital role in achieving a successful and seamless surgery, paying meticulous attention to detail. Dr. Diaz and her team prioritize creating a positive and calm environment, ensuring patients feel relaxed, calm, and excited as they enter the operating room. Throughout the procedure, the team maintains focus on patient warmth, comfort, and care. Dr. Diaz applies a numbing solution to the labia, ensuring patients do not experience any pain during your procedure.

What to Know Before Your Labiaplasty Procedure?
Before undergoing a labiaplasty procedure it is important to be well-informed. During the consultation with Dr. Diaz, she will carefully assess your individual anatomy and collaborate with you to visualize the desired size and shape for optimal results. Dr. Diaz will explain her refined surgical technique, which she has developed over the years. With her technique, Dr. Diaz aims to create natural-looking, symmetric, and tucked-in labia with minimal scarring. Her patients often report difficulty in finding any visible scars after the procedure. Dr. Diaz believes that discretion is essential when performing surgery in such a delicate area. To ensure your satisfaction, she encourages open communication and a detailed discussion of your aesthetic preferences. Bringing examples of labiaplasty outcomes, both positive and negative, can help Dr. Diaz better understand your goals. Dr. Diaz will then use her extensive knowledge and personalized approach to develop a customized plan tailored to your unique needs.
What Happens During Labiaplasty Procedure?
Labiaplasty can be done in our procedure room in the office or in the operating room under general anesthesia. This is dependent on patient comfort level during the procedure, and if we are doing other procedures at the same time (i.e. the Mommy Makeover Plus+ where Dr. Diaz also performs vaginal rejuvenation after tummy tuck and breast surgery). The duration of the labiaplasty procedure can range from 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on factors such as complexity, anatomy, and incision requirements. Dr. Diaz carefully marks the desired shape of the labia in the pre-operative area and discusses the incision details with each patient before surgery. Attention to detail is paramount to Dr. Diaz at every step of the surgery, ensuring the best possible outcome.
Labiaplasty Recovery & Results: What To Expect
Dr. Diaz has developed a special technique, ensuring minimal pain and a speedy recovery for patients. During the healing process, it is normal to experience some soreness and swelling of the labia, which typically lasts for about a month. It’s important to note that final results may take 3-4 months as tissues settle.
To ensure a smooth recovery from your labiaplasty procedure, follow these instructions:
Dr. Diaz is committed to providing the most comfortable and successful labiaplasty experience for her patients.
- 1Reduce swelling by applying ice to your labia, being careful not to let anything stick to the suture line.
- 2Apply a generous amount of bacitracin or a triple antibiotic ointment to the suture line for 2 weeks.
- 3Opt for loose cotton undergarments and avoid tight or irritating clothing during the recovery period.
- 4Use a thick maxi pad covered in ointment, ensuring it doesn’t come into contact with the suture line.
- 5Refrain from using tampons, engaging in sexual activities for 4-6 weeks after the procedure.
- 6When showering, gently pat your labia dry without scrubbing the incision. Avoid baths or swimming for 4 weeks. After each shower, apply ample ointment to the surgical site.
- 7Optimal resting position is with your legs bent up while sleeping or resting.
- 8In case of itching, alleviate discomfort by icing the area and applying ointment.
Dr. Diaz understands the importance of post-surgical recovery and returning to normal activities. Following the procedure, it is advised to refrain from tight clothing, intercourse, and exercise for 4-6 weeks. While most patients can resume work within a few days, strenuous activities should be avoided for a minimum of a couple of weeks.
